Valentines day is still far off, but my little gun metal x & o found at an antique store in Little Rock last summer added a bit of passion to my winter mantle and I couldn't resist putting them front and center.

I add a small but bold touch with a mini version of my Happily Ever After typewriter print. It's these little details that draw people in with a bit of whimsy & wonder! The crystal beads add glimmer and are strung on wire to be easily stuffed & sculpted into a vase. The off-white one here served as part of the cake stand at my wedding!

Last but not least-a splash of unexpected color. I chose my icy blue vintage book 'The Rule of Taize'. A fascinating read on meditative prayer and fabulous addition to my mantle. The sparrow topped anthropologie tea pot seems like it's almost inviting me to sip a cuppa with an afternoon read!

I wanted the sparkle to last even after the Holidays, so when it was time to re-do the mantle, I chose a large mirror with beveled glass accents that I added years ago to hide some scratches in the glass, along with a monochromatic color palette in Winter Whites & Grays. I love the warm & smokey feel the Grays add!

My typewriter painting is available as an original (no quote) or a Giclee Print in my new shop, and I am adding more paintings & products as fast as my little fingers will type! Click the photo to head over and check it out .  Please Pardon my dust as I build!

Peace & Winter Joy to you & yours,

    • Beth! I was seriously just thinking about/praying for you on my drive home from church about 10 minutes ago!! :D Glad you’re here.
I have no idea what silly button trees you are talking about! LOL
      Sherri
P.S. Thanks for saying you like my mantle :D

  1. So pretty! Can you share some information about your mirror? Did you paint a ladder and the airplane on it? I think that’s what I see??? The mantle is so “You”. Lovely, with a touch of class and mystery. I really like that you used the crystal beads from your wedding cake. I tend to believe that every.single.thing can be repurposed! Therefore, I keep way too much! You know, I bought a wooden mantle at Goodwill and I need to paint it and hang it. I’m thinking a blue. Need to go to Home Depot and get some ideas. (I can and DO spend about 2 hours in there when I go.) : ) Thanks for sharing your mantle. You encouraged me to get up and do something constructive.

I only put out a few Christmas items and I’ve put most away. I started working/sewing new curtains for my bedroom yesterday. I love sewing, but it made me realize how much my eyesight has deteriorated. But, I’ll keep trying, as long as I can see! Just needing to brighten my bedroom some. Get this: I painted one wall in my bedroom. On one leg, with 3 disposable foam brushes, in one day! It looks pretty good. I smile when I think of the drive and determination the Lord has Blessed me with. God is Good!

    Hugs, my Friend ~ Jo

    • Hi Jo! Everything you see on the mirror is a reflection :) I see my bookshelves and my ceiling fan, but an airplane would be much more interesting! :)
I can’t believe you got a mantle at Goodwill! That is so awesome!
I also can’t believe the description of now you painted your room-you are a fighter that’s for sure! I love that about you!
I want to see the photos after you paint the mantle :)
      Love you friend,
      Sherri

  2. Your mantle is beautiful, I just don’t know how you do that, I just don’t have that much creativity. As far as Christmas decorations, I love them and won’t take them down till next weekend. Your mantle does motivate me to try something new! I have a week to think about it now. Jeanne

    • Jeanne, you ARE that creative, we are all created in The Creator’s image :)
There is a secret to decorating- (If I had time I would’ve posted the whole process but I just have so much to get done before Thursday so I had to get it done and up.) What you didn’t see was that I just gathered all of the white, gray, silver and sparkly things that I thought would fit on the mantle, (1.Pick your pallet) and then threw them up there all at once, (2. Start with too much) and then moved, removed, switched and rearranged . (3. Some things don’t end up making the cut. Wait for little aha moments as you create then move onto the next section until it all comes together.) The last thing that I put up is my splash of color :)
Go for it Jeanne- you can do it!
      Sherri
P.S. I love my Christmas decor too, but once January hits I feel I am procrastinating if I leave it up. Lol

      much
